US Open 2018 Final: Djokovic’s 14 the or Del Porto’s 2nd?

Serbian Novak Djokovic and Argentine Juan del Potro are going to meet in the men’s final of the US Open. Although everyone has hoped for a Federer-Nadal final at the start of the tournament, both of them were dismissed before the final.

Nadal lost to Del Potro in the semi-final. But actually, Del Potro didn’t defeat Nadal by the full meaning. More obviously, Nadal had to surrender to his injury. During the first set, Nadal was uncomfortable with his injury issue. After taking treatment for twice, he couldn’t feel comfortable in the court at all. Therefore, after the second set, the Spanish legend forced to leave the Flushing Meadow due to the seriousness of his injury.

However, before the departure of Nadal, due to the injury, the result of the match was in favour of Del Potro. In the first two sets 7-6 (7/3), 6-2, the Argentine was ahead.

With considering Nadal’s almost 5 hours fightback in the quarter-finals, it was really difficult to assume, who’s gonna win semi!

Before leaving Flushing Meadow, Nadal said, “I do not like to leave the court in the middle. But one is playing tennis and one will stand on the other side of the court, that’s not tennis.”

However, in such a case of Nadal, the joy of winning was completely mixed by Juan del Potro. Of course, Del Potro will understand Nadal’s situation better than anyone. Because the wrist injury was nearly going to finish this Argentine’s career.

“It’s not a good way to win matches, I love to play against Nadal, he is the biggest fighter in this game, but I don’t want to see him in pain,” he said, showing sympathy for Nadal after the match.

But tonight at the Flushing Meadow, Del Potro has to concentrate more on his second ever Grand Slam final instead of the semi against Nadal. This is his first reach to a Grand Slam final after 2009 US Open final.

On the Other hand, Servian star Novak Djokovic defeated Japan’s Kei Nishikori quite convincingly in the semi-final. Djokovic outplayed Nishikori by 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in the semi. And except the ranking, Djokovic is way ahead of Del Potro from all sides. Actually, Del Potro’s Ranking is 3 while Djokovic is in the 6th position.

Except for this calculation, the Serbian Djokovic is undoubtedly ahead of Argentine del Potro. This is the 23rd Grand Slam Final for Djokovic compared to Del Potro’s 2nd Grand Slam final. Furthermore, the only Grand Slam title for Del Potro was way back in 2009 US Open, while Djokovic has won 13 Grand Slam titles so far.

Whatever, Djokovic is a great fan of Del Potro’s personality. Before the final, he said “We have never met in a Grand Slam final, I respect him as a player and person both. He is outstanding as a person. He has to suffer from a lot of injury issues in the past, but he is a big-match player “

However, despite all of these facts and stats, the US Open 2018 title will be decided by tonight at the Flushing Meadows.
