South Africa vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI

Rbada’s fiery spell of 5-for, De Kock, Verreynne fifties helped South Africa beat Bangladesh by seven wickets.

South Africa had Bangladesh 34-5 in the 13th over of the second ODI and controlled the match from that point onward. Although Bangladesh recovered well to post 194-9.  

After Bangladesh’s surprise victory over South Africa in the first game, the pressure was all on the home team. This was their first win against South Africa in an ODI game in South Africa.

This ordinary target was reached comfortably by South Africa in 37.2 overs, with de Kock top-scoring with 62 and Verreynne remaining unbeaten on 58.

South Africa got off to a good start in their chase of 195, with de Kock going after Taskin Ahmed with a six, over wide long-on. He then hit him for two fours, swept Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a four, and after that lofted him over covers for his second six. Jannemann Malan, scoring 26 off 40 balls had struck two fours early and kept the momentum for South Africa without losing their wickets.

Sonner after the fifty, De Kock was also dropped by Mushfiqur Rahim off Mehidy. According to the Sport News BD experts, the visitors had lousy fielding, body approach, overall a struggling sub-continental team in overseas tours.

Tamim Iqbal in his post-match interview said, “the wicket was not what we assumed. There can be a lot of commenting about winning the toss and the decision of batting first. We made mistakes and they bowled well.”

He also added, “at one stage it was even difficult to score 100 but we did 194. We can blame a lot of things but in the end, we played poorly.”

Kagiso Rabada was adjudged the Man of the Match for his 5 for 39. He mentioned in the interview that it’s important to rely on the tactics and bowl as simple as possible. With the ball gripping, their seamers used it properly.

The series decider is coming on Wednesday back at Centurian where the visitors had their first win. If they want to win the series they need to calm down their nerves and there is no hurry in South African conditions.
