Shakib remains unsold in IPL 2022 mega auction

Bangladesh superstar Shakib Al Hasan also the no. 1 all-rounder in all formats went unsold even in the second call in IPL 2022 mega auction. He’s unsold for the second time in his career. Though the first one was in 2010. 

Many fans have been disappointed with the news and many others have criticized him for being unsold even though knowing he’ll be busy with his national team schedules. 

Shakib’s wife Umme Shishir has clarified on a Facebook post why his husband went unsold at the auction. She mentioned, her husband was contacted by a couple of franchises. But his responsibility to his team will make him unavailable for the IPL 2022 season.

Here is exactly what she wrote: 

“Before you get too excited a couple of teams contacted him directly ahead of time if he can be available for the full season, but unfortunately he can’t due to the Sri Lanka series! This is why he did not get picked which is not a big deal, it is not the end, there’s always next year!”

According to the Sport News BD experts, Bangladesh will be traveling to South Africa for playing bi-lateral series when IPL will be staged and also play against Sri Lanka at home. Though Shakib has told the authorities before that he won’t be available in the South Africa tour.

Recently, his performance in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is quite astonishing because of his consistency of playing good cricket with bat and ball. He has made a record by being adjudged player of the match for five consecutive matches. 

No other player in this format around the world couldn’t be the man of the match five times in a row. It’s a world record for him. 

Shakib in IPL has played nine seasons, most of the time for Kolkata Knight riders, seven seasons since 2012, and two seasons for Sunrisers Hyderabad. During his service for KKR, they have been titled twice.
