IPL Records: 5 Unbroken IPL Records Since 2008

IPLThis is 2018 and IPL in its 10th edition. Things have changed a lot for over the years. In every new season, IPL is outdoing its previous seasons. Obviously, we are talking about its commercial perspective, but comparing with this, on-field performances were not far behind though.

Estimated budgets for IPL is rising every year. Franchises are spending tons of dollars in every auction and players also are giving their best to prove themselves worthy of that amount of money. There are a bunch of records are being created in almost every match of IPL. Actually, cricket is a game of storing records for each and every delivery and IPL is not an exception too.

But there are few records which were actually made in its inaugural season in 2008, however, remain untouched till now. In fact, some of these will make wonder that how this record still remains unbroken till now?

This is a record that now non-existing franchise Deccan Charger would not be proud of. On April 20, 2008, which was the fourth match of first ever IPL, DC bowlers were trying to defend only 110 runs, but all they could manage to provide 28 runs as extras. The extras comprised 15 wides, 1 no-ball, 8 leg byes and 4 byes.

Rajasthan Royals holds the record of the highest successful run chase in IPL and that happened way back in 2008, in the inaugural season of IPL. RR got that heroic win against the now defunct Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad, in the league stage games. Andrew Simonds 53-ball unbeaten 117 helped the Chargers to get a massive total of 214 for 5. In reply, Graeme Smith’s 71 of 45 balls, Yusuf Pathan’s extraordinary 61 from 28 balls and Captain Shane Warne’s 22 of 9 balls helped the Royals to seal a 3 wickets victory with a team total of 217/7. This is still the highest successful run chase in IPL history.

This record is held by Sohail Tanvir. He was a part of Rajasthan Royals, the first title winner of IPL. He picked up 6 wickets by giving away only 14 runs in his 4 overs against Chennai Super Kings on May 4, 2008. Rajasthan Royals had owned the league, largely owing to great bowling by Tanvir. He was the leading wicket-taker for that tournament and his figure of 4-0-14-6 is still the best figure in IPL history.

Well, it is really surprising to see those records are still unbroken in IPL. If you guys have any other stories like these then share with us in the comment box. We will be glad to see the response from you all.
