CSK records back-to-back victory in IPL 2022
In a match at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 91 runs. This was CSK’s second consecutive victory in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
CSK batted first and dominated Delhi bowlers, with their openers providing a solid start. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway registered another century stand to put the team in a strong position. Conway brought up his third consecutive half-century to power CSK to 208.
DC lost an early wicket in their chase of 209 when Srikar Bharat was caught at first slip. David Warner was on the charge, hitting two fours and two maximums. But he couldn’t extend more and got trapped LBW in the 5th over. This time Mahesh Theekshana bagged his wicket.
At the end of the powerplay DC was 59-2. After the powerplay, Moeen Ali bowled well and got the DC batting lineup out quickly. He bowled his four overs spell for 13 runs, scalping the wickets of Mitchell Marsh, Ripal Patel, and Rishabh Pant. This was his second-best bowling performance in IPL.
Including the last win, CSK won their fourth game of the IPL season, moving up to 8th place and above KKR on net run rate. Their win keeps them in contention for the playoffs, though they still need a lot of luck to make it there.
Chennai Super Kings has replaced Faf du Plessis with Devon Conway, who is hitting the ball just as well. The New Zealand batter smashed 87 runs off 49 balls against Delhi Capitals on Sunday night.
Overall, Conway had a great game, scoring 5 maximums and 7 boundaries while also helping set up a big win for CSK. He was rewarded with the player of the match award.
According to the Sport News BD experts, CSK will need a miracle to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs. The team has just 4 wins in their first 11 matches and it would be tough to make up ground from here. MS Dhoni has also said, “If we qualify for the playoffs, very good. If not it’s not the end of the world.”
