Yesterday, both the matches between Portugal vs Iran and Spain vs Morocco were quite exciting though Spain confirmed that they had nothing to lose except the topper of Group B. On the other hand, both Portugal and Iran had to lose a lot of things. Because if any one team loses that team will be knocked out. But the match tied and Iran had to pay for this. As a result, they were knocked out from the tournament.

From the beginning of Spain-Morocco match, it was clearly observed and simple that Spain’s objective was to stay top of Group B. But Morocco left no stone unturned to win this match.

The reason for saying was 14 minutes of the match. Morocco first took the first step to fulfil their aim. In the 14th minute, forward Khalid took an advantage on a misunderstanding between Sergio Ramos and Andres Iniesta, resulting in a clear breakaway. He just sent the ball through the legs of Spain goalkeeper David De Gea.

Spain didn’t wait long to level the score. La Roja might have thought attacking is the only way to come back to this match. They started the attack on the right side of Morocco’s defence and got the result quickly to come back to the match. Hence the score levelled.

Like other all matches, this match was a package of good chances for both teams. Once again in the 25th minute, Boutaib and the goalpost had one obstacle and that was the goalkeeper himself. Despite having alone De Gea, he missed. De Gea saved the shot with his right thigh.

Iniesta continued to chase down Morocco from the left side. He also got a golden opportunity just before the half-time of the match.

Then in the second half, Morocco was about to take the lead. In the 55th minute, NordinAmrabat’s fearless drive just bounced out after hitting the corner of the woodwork. Then in the 62nd minute, Spain had another chance to take the lead.

Spain was looking to be controlled over the ball. But Morocco found another goal when the game was less than 10 minutes to go. This team En-Nesyri was the scorer.

Morocco perhaps thought “Spain is out of the match.” But this was a terrible mistake for them. A backheel by Aspas in the stoppage time just saved Spain from the taste of defeat by Morocco. It was a luck for Spain that this time VAR was available. Otherwise, it maybe went within the offside.

In the second match, Portugal was ahead of Iran. Just before the half-time Quaresma took the lead for Portugal. Everything seemed to be very controlled for Portugal. But at the end of the match, in the injury time, Portugal wasn’t ready for the VAR drama. Iran called for VAR as it was a handball in the penalty area. The Referee was convinced and gave the penalty to Iran.

Iran didn’t mistake to score. But in the very next minute, they just missed a chance to go ahead of Portugal. In the end, Iran lost and Portugal won. A heart touching moment was created for Iran. They will also have to leave the tournament.
