In the third ODI of Aus vs Eng bilateral series, Australia won by a big margin of 221 runs. This is the second time in the bilateral series that Australia has whitewashed England, and they have now swept the series 3-0.
Australia’s success in this ODI has been fuelled by hundreds from openers David Warner and Travis Head. Warner scored 106 and head scored 152. Together, they put on a massive opening partnership of 269 runs, which laid the foundation for Australia’s big win.
England simply had no answer to Australia’s bowlers, and they were eventually bowled out for just 142 runs. This is the second time in the series that England has failed to reach 250 runs, and they have now lost the series 3-0.
England’s performance in the T20 World Cup wasn’t dull at all as we witnessed in this series. They beat Pakistan in the T20 World Cup final in Melbourne, in the same condition.
This is an absolute disappointment, as Eng had been favourites to win the series vs Aus.
Our Sport News BD experts have given their opinions. They mentioned that England’s batting was the main problem, as they were unable to score runs consistently. This was a surprise, as England have some very talented batsmen in their squad.
England captain Jos Buttler said, “I’m not fussed about the results, to be honest. It’s about how we play. Dawid Malan’s hundred in the first game was exceptional, James Vince and Sam Billings’ partnership in Sydney was fantastic so they’ve had great exposure and I’m really pleased for their individual performances.”
He also added, “We tried out best but we’ve fallen a long way short.”
On the other end, the hosts were happy. David Warner was adjudged Player of the Series and Travis Head as Player of the Match.
