Asia Cup 2018: Its Time for South Asian El Cassico, India Vs Pakistan

Pakistan will take on India in the Asia Cup group round match on Wednesday 19 September at the Dubai International Stadium.

Pakistan started the Asia Cup journey with an eight wickets win against Hong Kong. Pakistan batsman and bowlers did not have to take any pressure while playing against Hong Kong. Pakistan last faced India in the final of the champions trophy last year in England. Pakistan won that match against India. So in today’s match, Pakistan will be mentally ahead of India.

India, on the other hand, came to Dubai after defeated by England 2-1 in an ODI series. So that they are in a little bit short in their confidence. Rohit Sharma is leading this Asia cup India team. Regular captain Virat Kohli is absence in this tournament. So there is a lot of pressure on Rohit Sharma because he is leading a full tournament for the first time.

Rohit Sharma said that off late we have played a number of ODI game, and we have won quite a few series outside India. And it gives us a golden opportunity before the world cup. So now we have set our goals for the Asia Cup. We will focus on one match and win it and then we will think about the other matches. Playing against Pakistan is always an exciting thing.

They are very good country and they are playing very good cricket in the last few days and keeping that in mind, we are preparing ourselves for the upcoming match and the match against them is going to very competitive. The purpose of my saying is not that we will keep our attention on just one match.

The main purpose of this game is to keep an eye on the whole tournament. The counties that are participating in this Asia cup are all looking to be the best among the Asian countries. And this time I am leading a full tournament as a Captain. So this is a very exciting thing for me.

Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said that being a part of the Asia cup is a very exciting thing. It is a great opportunity for everyone to become the best team in Asia. For us, the next one year is very busy leading to the world cup. Our first target is the Asia Cup. After the Asia Cup, there is a couple of series in front of us. After the tournament, we will play against Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand. From each match, we are learning and preparing ourselves for the next series with our failure and success.

Former Indian Skipper Sourav Ganguly said that India the best team and absence of captain Virat Kohli for the Indian team will not have any effects on the game. India is the defending champion of the Asia cup. So it is a bit of an advisory for India.

One of the reasons that India is in a lead in the match because they faced each other in an Asia cup 12 times. India won for 6 times and Pakistan won for 5 times.

So on Wednesday match, they have the equal chance of a win. So far India has been the most successful team in the Asia Cup, having won the Asia cup titles for the six times., while Pakistan has been able to achieve The Asia cup twice.

After being severely defeated by England, Virat Kohli was restored for some time and Rohit Sharma is leading the team on his behalf. So it would be no difference for India because Pakistan is lagging behind in their performance and if they want to win against India they have to make more progress in their game.

India last faced Pakistan in the last year’s champion trophy. In final Pakistan won the match by 180 runs against India. Like Pakistan, India is starting their Asia cup journey against Hong Kong on Tuesday
