The second El Clasico of La Liga 2020/21 started with a heavy overcast weather at Madrid. Rain started to hammering the pitch by the time goes one. Both of the sides were in a good touch in recent La Liga games.

Before the match, everyone was eying on how Lionel Messi’s react on his record 45th El Clasico appearance. Actually, he reacted pretty well. Despite his tremendous efforts, Barca couldn’t manage to earn any points for his side from rivals territory.

Barcelona’s strong appeal for penalty was dined by the referee minutes before Real took 1-0 lead at the 13th minutes.

Federico Valverde made an excellent solo run from the centre to the edge of Barca box, then gave a clean pass to Lucas Vazquez, who was running unmark through the right wing. Karim Benzema’s coolheaded side-hill finsh of Vazquez’s low pass took his side to a early lead.

Actually, Zinedine Zidane’s side was too good at the counter throughout the game. Los Bancos earnd close free-kick from the right edge of Barca box at 27th minutes. Toni Kross’s go to free-kick shot deflected by Sergino Dest’s back and fortunately finds the net.

If Messi’s unbelievable direct corner kick wasn’t denied by the Real’s left bar, then the Catalans could have finished the first-half with somethings to cheer about.

Barca boss Ronald Koeman made some changes in the second-half which brought remarkable acceleration to their gameplay. They scored their first goal in 60th minutes. Barca halved the deficit when Oscar Mingueza converted Jordi Alba’s cross after Antoine Griezmann’s clever dummy.

Casemiro went sent off in the 90th minutes with a back to back yellow. Barcelona piled on the pressure on 10-man Real in search of a late equaliser.

But they were not lucky enough to comeback with substitute Ilaix Moriba’s bullet shot cannoning off the bar in the final minute of stoppage time.
